An unforgettable journey through the majestic Andes Mountains. Our expert guides will lead you to explore the stunning Escondido and Fagnano lakes aboard 4x4 vehicles, on an exciting off-road trip that connects you with the wildest nature. The day culminates at our private shelter, where the unmistakable aroma of an authentic Argentinian barbecue welcomes you, creating the perfect ending to a day of exploration and adventure in Tierra del Fuego.

Our 4x4 adventure starts with a departure from your hotel in Ushuaia, taking you into an imposing glacial valley. The first part of the journey culminates at Garibaldi Pass, the only road that crosses the majestic Fuegian Andes mountain range. From this elevated point in the mountains, you'll have a privileged view of Escondido Lake, a small natural wonder that we'll later travel along from south to north on National Route 3.

Near the northern end of Escondido Lake, we'll leave the asphalt to begin an exciting off-road adventure. We'll venture along old sawmill roads, which soon become challenging trails impassable for conventional vehicles. These will lead us directly to Fagnano Lake, the fifth-largest lake in Argentina, where its vast expanse will leave you breathless.

In the forest, on the shores of the impressive Fagnano Lake, you'll have free time to walk and explore the natural surroundings. Meanwhile, our guide will prepare a rich and comforting meal, which we'll enjoy comfortably in our exclusive shelter. Located in the middle of this pristine natural environment, far from the hustle and bustle of modern life, this moment will be the perfect grand finale for our day of exploration in Tierra del Fuego.

The climate in Tierra del Fuego is known for its variability. It is not uncommon to experience sun, rain, and wind on the same day. Average temperatures in summer hover around 10°C (with variations between 5°C and 15°C), while in winter they are usually around 0°C. Being prepared is key to fully enjoying the experience.

Essential Clothing: The "Onion" Method

To ensure comfort during outdoor activities, dressing in layers is crucial. The "onion" system allows you to adapt your clothes to changing weather conditions and your level of physical activity.

  • Layers: Wear several thin layers that can be easily put on or taken off to regulate your body temperature in response to wind or sun.
  • Footwear: This is the most important item. We recommend waterproof footwear that offers robust protection, ideal for walking on wet, muddy, or snowy terrain.
  • Jacket: Essential. A waterproof or water-resistant jacket will effectively protect you from rain and wind.

Recommended Clothing

  • Thermal undergarments (shirt and leggings for those who are particularly sensitive to the cold).
  • Waterproof trekking boots for walking on mountainous terrain.
  • A fleece or microfleece jacket/sweatshirt.
  • A rain/windproof jacket. Ideal: Gore-tex or softshell.
  • Warm hat and neck warmer (buff). Gloves.
  • Bringing your own bottle helps us avoid using disposable plastics: we will have water to refill it!
