This is a full-day excursion that combines a land trip, a navigation on the Beagle Channel, and a hike in one of the wildest and most beautiful places in Tierra del Fuego.
The journey begins by leaving Ushuaia eastward on National Route 3 and then on Route J. Once on the coast of the Beagle Channel, we enter Puerto Almanza, a small fishing village located at the edge of the continent.
Next, we will board a semi-rigid motorboat to head to Martillo Island. During the navigation, we will have the opportunity to admire the region's rich marine bird life and, with some luck, also sea lions. Upon arrival, we will observe the penguins in their breeding habitat directly from the boat.
The boat journey will continue to the highlight of the day: the majestic Gable Island. There, our hike begins. We will traverse a pristine and extreme landscape, finding remains left by the Yámana civilization and the first settlers. In the midst of a silence only disturbed by the wind and the birds, you can experience the sensation of being alone in the world.
After about two hours of hiking, we will arrive at a shelter with a privileged view, where a delicious lunch awaits us, accompanied by Patagonian wine, soft drinks, and mineral water.
After lunch, we return to the mainland by boat to disembark near the historic core of Harberton Ranch, the oldest on the island. After a brief visit, we will take the bus back to Ushuaia.
