Private tour

A kayak adventure that will make you feel like an explorer at the End of the World. We'll paddle along the waters of the Beagle Channel, emulating the tradition of the ancient Yámanas, with the possibility of spotting marine fauna and birds. The route takes us to the pristine Gable Island, where we'll enjoy lunch and a hike, and then continue the journey back to the mainland.

Paddling a kayak on the sea waters of the Beagle Channel offers a sense of freedom and a detachment from civilization that transports us to the time when the original inhabitants of this region, the Yámanas, lived and navigated this remote part of the planet. During the journey, there is a good chance of spotting marine fauna and birds.

The adventure begins with a transfer by land to the coast of the Beagle Channel, near Harberton Ranch, where we receive a safety and technical briefing and the necessary equipment. Once ready, we begin paddling toward the sea. The course varies depending on the weather and wind conditions, but we generally navigate toward Cigüeña Island, where a colony of rock cormorants is located, and then continue toward Gable Island.

On Gable Island, we land to enjoy a well-deserved lunch and take a short walk. Afterward, we return to the boats to continue the journey through Paso Guaraní and the Waru and Upu Islands. The kayak trip culminates near the old airstrip of Harberton Ranch, where we disembark to begin the return to Ushuaia by vehicle.

Important Note: This is the only excursion that may be canceled due to weather conditions, especially strong winds. The final decision will be made by the guide on the day of the activity, always prioritizing passenger safety. In case of cancellation, we will offer you available alternative excursions or a full refund for the service.

The climate in Tierra del Fuego is famously unpredictable; it is possible to experience sun, rain, and wind all in a single day. The rains are rarely torrential. In summer, average temperatures are around 10°C (with variations between 5°C and 15°C), while in winter they are usually close to 0°C. The key to enjoying your trip is to be well-prepared.

Essential Clothing: The "Onion" Method
To ensure comfort during outdoor activities, dressing in layers is crucial. The "onion" system allows you to adapt your clothes to changing weather conditions and your level of physical activity.

  • Layers: Wear several thin garments that can be easily put on or taken off to regulate your body temperature in response to wind or sun.
  • Footwear: This is the highest priority. We recommend waterproof footwear that offers robust protection, ideal for walking on wet, muddy, or snowy terrain.
  • Jacket: Indispensable. A waterproof or water-resistant jacket will effectively protect you from rain and wind.

During the paddle, we will provide you with the necessary equipment. You can bring cameras and cell phones. However, for your comfort and the safety of your equipment, we suggest opting for compact cameras or cell phones that can be easily stored away in case of rain. The use of large photographic equipment is not recommended.

Recommended Clothing:

  • Thermal undergarments (shirt and leggings for those who are particularly sensitive to the cold).
  • long pants for trekking.
  • Waterproof trekking boots for walking on mountainous terrain.
  • A fleece or microfleece jacket/sweatshirt.
  • A rain/windproof jacket. Ideal: Gore-tex or softshell.
  • A warm hat and neck warmer (buff); gloves.
  • An extra change of clothes.
  • Sunglasses and sunscreen.
  • Bringing your own reusable bottle helps us avoid using disposable plastics: we will have water to refill it!
